गुन्द्रुक भनेपछि हंगेरियालीपनि हुरुक्कै
(यसैसँग संबन्धित अघिल्लो ब्लग)
कुराकानी गर्दा गर्दै साँझ पर्न लाग्यो । खाना बनाए कौशिला, रेबिका र अन्य साथीहरु भएर । हामी नेपालीहरुको दशैंमा बेस्सरि मासु खाने चलन हुन्छ । तर बिदेशमा मासुको रहर हुने भएन । सुरेन्द्रजीको आमाले पठाउनु भएको ट्वाक्क परेको गुन्द्रुक र भात खाइयो । रातो गोल्भेडा राखेर । मासुको साटो तिनै गुन्द्रुकका झाम्टा टोकियो । अचम्म के भने ति हंगेरियाली गाबोरपनि यति भिजेका रहेछन् नेपाल र नेपाली संस्क्रितिमाकि हातैले भका भक गुन्द्रुक र भात पो दिन थाले । उनलाई पटक्कै अप्ठेरो नलाग्ने रहेछ । ग्रुन्द्रुक र भात खान भनेपछि हुरुक्कै हुने रहेछन् ।
खाना पछि केहि बेर बसेर गफ गर्न थालियो । मलाई अचम्म लागेको के भने त्यहाँका नेपालीहरु यूरोपका अन्य मूलुकमा भन्दा सजिलो र अलि सम्मानित काम गर्ने रहेछन् । यसैपनि सानो देश । बुढापेस्ट शहरपनि एकै रातमा घुमेर सकिने रहेछ उस्तै परे । असाध्यै सफा । राती बिजुली बत्तीले शहर धपक्कै बल्ने । यस्तो शहरमा जम्मा २५ जनाजति मात्रै नेपाली रहेछन् । तर यो नेपाली वस्ति यति उदहरणिय रहेछ कि हरेक नेपाली पर्वमा भेटघाट हुने । स्पष्ठ र मिलनसार । एकदमै सहयोगि । कुनै पनि सिमा र रेखाले नकोरेको । त्यसको एउटा कारण के पनि मैले अनुभव गरें भने सुरेन्द्रजीको नेत्रित्व क्षमता र मिलनसारिता । उनले सारा नेपालीलाई अभिभावक झैं गरेर एक सूत्रमा राखेका रहेछन् अहिलेसम्म । ल यसो गरौं भन्नासाथ सफा मनले भेला हुने रहेछन् नेपाली साथीभाईहरु । यहाँपनि २५ बाट सय पुग्यो भने अरु देशमा झैं मनमुटाव र बिखण्ड को थालनी हुन्छ कि ! तँ ठुलो कि म भन्ने बेक्कारको अहंले गाँज्छ कि भन्ने चिन्ता ब्यक्त गर्थे साथीहरु ।
यहाँ भएका नेपाली मध्येमा सुरेन्द्रजी एउटा अमेरिकि बैंकमा ब्यवस्थापक रहेछन् । कौशिला बिद्दालयकि शिक्षिका । पुष्पाका पती सोनाम झन् त्यहिँको एउटा विश्व विद्दालयमा तिब्बती भाषा, संस्क्रिति र बौद्द संबन्धि पढाउने । डा राम रोक्का त्यहि चिकित्सक । अन्य नेपालीपनि राम्रै काममा बाँधिन पाएका । त्यसको एउटा कारण सायद के होला भने हंगेरियालीहरुमा एक खालको आत्मग्लानी रहेछ । किनभने यिनिहरुले कहिल्यै कुनै पनि युद्दमा जितेका रहेनछन् । त्यसैले तिनको आत्मबल कमजोर रहेछ। हामी बलिया छौं र बिदेशी कमजोर छन् भन्ने रहेनछ । र बिदेशीहरु प्रतिको आम धारणापनि सकारात्मक रहेछ । मूलत क्रिषीमा अडेको यो देशको क्रिषी पदार्थ जर्मनी, फ्रान्स लगायतका पश्चिमी यूरोपेली मूलुकमा जाने रहेछ ।
यस्ता हुन्छन् जनताको मनमा बस्ने नेता !

साँझ बुढापेस्ट घुम्दाघुम्दै नदी किनारको सेतो भवन अगाडिबाट फन्को मार्दै थियौं । सुरेन्द्रजीले टक्क रोकेर भने ‘तपाइलाई थाह छ ददिजी यो ? यो त राष्ट्रपतीको कार्यकारी निवास हो’। सुरेन्द्रजीमाथि विश्वास हुँदा हुँदैपनि झुक्किए जस्तो लाग्यो । राष्ट्रपतीको कार्य थलो । त्यसको ढोकैमा ठोक्किएर हिँड्दापनि सुरक्षाकर्मी नाई । कहाँ हुन्छ यस्तो ? ‘ल ल फोटो हानीहालौं’ भने उनले ।
साँच्चै भित्तामा गएर हेर्दा त थाह भो, सानो प्लेटमा त्यहि लेखिएको रहेछ । अनि त्यहाँ एक जना मात्र प्रहरी खटाइएको रहेछ । त्यहि प्रहरीपनि ढोकाबाट अन्तै टाढा कतै नाफ्नै सुरमा टहलाईरहेको । म गएर उभिएँ राष्ट्रपती छिर्ने ढोकाको अगाडि । अनि सुरेन्द्रजीले धमाधम क्यामेरा सोझ्याए ।
अचम्म लाग्यो मलाई, ए गाँठे हाम्रो देशमा भए यो भवनको हालत के हुँदो हो ? प्रहरी र सेनाले घेरेर यो भवनै देखिने थिएन । अनि चार कोश परबाटै काँडे तारले घिरिन्थ्यो । कि त बन्दूक सोझ्याएर अन्तै बाट हिँड्न बाध्य पारिन्थ्यो ।
जुन नेताले जनताको भलो गर्छ । जनताको पिर मर्का बुझ्छ। जनताको दुख र सुखमा साथ दिन्छ । देशका बारेमा सोच्छ उसलाई कत्तीपनि डर नहुने रहेछ । विशेष सुरक्षा नभएपनि उ र उसको भवन जनतालेनै सुरक्षा पो गर्ने रहेछन् । (तेस्रो फोटो हंगेरियाली राष्ट्रपती) तिनको श्रद्दा पो गर्ने रहेछन् । यस्तै अवस्था देख्न पाइएला कुनै दिन हाम्रा नेताको पनि ?

ददि सर, राष्ट्रपतिको सवारी चलाउँदा लाजिम्पाटको सडकमा धेरै दुख पाएको मलाइ हंगेरी निवासको त्यो सुरक्षा देख्दा इर्स्या पो लाग्यो त । नेपालमा त्यस्तो हुने त अहिले कल्पना पनि गर्न सकिँदैन ।

What you have written here about Hungary is not exactly what it is in reality.
Quality of life:-
Homelessness is a big problem in Budapest. People who are homeless are commonly seen in the inner city metro stations and sleeping in doorways in both Buda and Pest.
Tourist traps:
The major scams for the inexperienced tourist are taxis and restaurants.
Taxis used to be a travellers’ nightmare, mainly for those arriving from / going to the airport. Scam taxi drivers will solicit services in the terminal to take you for a ride with a very hungry meter.
Unfortunately the situation around railway and bus stations is still not regulated. The worst is probably Keleti Pályaudvar: never trust drivers hanging around the arrival side, rather pre-order a car. If that’s not possible, take only taxis logoed by one of the bigger companies. As a general rule, make sure the taximeter is on or bargain the price with the driver beforehand. Even in 2006 many cases have been reported when taxi drivers extorted hundreds of Euros from inexpert foreigners.
Similar abuses have happened also in restaurants and bars, almost all of them in the vicinity of Váci utca in the touristy heart of Pest. You should avoid the eateries and bars of the zone.
Don’t take any tip on the streets, specially if the person fall from heaven and is very nice to you.
Don’t befriend the girls hanging around Váci utca and never accept any invitation for a drink from them. Be sure that they will have fake French champagne, but you will only have the bill – it’s unlikely that a small talk with them is worth hundreds of Euros. You’ll find the same girls in erotic and topless bars; avoid them unless you’re ready to pay your monthly salary for a glass of wine. Currently the standard trick is to produce a menu with small print at the bottom stating that the first drink costs HUF 15,000 (apx EUR 60) and consumption is compulsory. This modified menu might only be produced when the bill is presented. Most of the erotic bars in Budapest are tourist traps. One specially restaurant, which is a common trap, is ‘Étterem Restaurant’. They offer free live Latin music and you access through an elevator. Don’t go there under any circumstance.
The common scam now is for attractive women to walk up to men and ask for directions to a particular bar. If you respond “I don’t know” they will ask you if you have a map and say “lets go together”… they commonly tell you a story such as “I just got in from Bratislava and am just looking for a good place to get a drink.” The most popular scam girls are a blond one with and shorter girl with dark hair. They always act together and ask for a lighter or the time. Next they invite single men for a drink, in a bar at Vaci utca only acessible by an elevator from the street. Once there each drink is like 50 euros, but you only confirm that at the end when you receive the 500 euros or plus bill. So never go to the elevator bar (Varoskozpont) at Váci utca, never ever.
If you see people gambling on the streets (usually in popular tourists’ destinations like Buda Castle) stay away! The modus operandi usually involves a guy playing the classic game of “hiding the ball”. This involves covering the ball (or small trinket) with either a bottle cap or a match box and swirling it around with two other bottle caps asking people to guess the position of the ball. The game is set in a way that you can easily see the ball’s position. This is done to lure the unsuspecting person into placing a wager. There are usually two main players and, between them, they will lose and win money back and forth to give the appearance that it is a fair game – do not be tricked! They are from the same gang. Once you get greedy and get lured in, you will surely lose your money! The person in control of the bottle caps will remove the ball from their position through sleight of hand and you will never see your money back. Besides the two or three other players involved, there are usually at least two lookouts – one on each side of ‘stage’.
